Train travel to Chester, June 3

She Said:
June 3
We did it!  Yesterday we finished our Wye Valley Walk - 136 miles through the Welsh (and some English) countryside.  Hooray for us!

Last night our hostess cooked us a fantastic meal of lamb, new potatoes, carrots, peas, broccolli and a perfect lemon tart with raspberries.  We drank a good bottle of Cabernet (from CA!) and toasted our success.

This morning - rain.
Taxi to the train station (30 min. away) and off to Chester.  Our first train was stuffed - standing room only - with what appeared to be Jubilee revelers.  Lots of paper cups filled with champagne.  We changed trains at Shrewsbury and our next train was roomy and comfortable.  We arrived at the Stone Villa B+B in Chester and have been lolling around in our sweats, watching the Jubilee Flotilla on TV and being happy that we are warm and dry and ensconced in luxury for a few days.  We will explore our neighborhood later as we search for a place to eat supper.

He Said:
Today was the day for the Queen's Jubilee, with a flotilla of boats on the River Thames.
But first, we had to get to our next stop - Chester.
taxi-train-train-taxi.... done.  And our Chester B&B has Wifi in the room, so we are catching up.

It's a day of rain, and it's quite cold in Chester... time to relax and updates blogs, email, etc....
